I want friendship with US but not slavery, Imran Khan addresses rally in Lahore


 

LAHORE (News) – Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has once again said that he was not anti-American and want friendship with Washington but doesn’t want its slavery.

Addressing a rally in Lahore on Saturday, he said that he was not against any country and Pakistani community is the most powerful in America. Revealing his strategy to achieve “Haqeeqi Azadi”, Imran Khan said fear was the most dangerous idol which enslaved human beings and a slave nation can never prosper.”

The PTI chairman revealed that the purpose to disqualify him was to make a deal to overturn Nawaz’s disqualification so that both can compete in next election. “Don t compare me with a dacoit… listen to me conspirators, no matter what you do I will not strike any deal,” he added.

The former prime minister continued by alleging that there was a "foreign plot" to destroy the nation by pitting the PTI against the army.

The PTI chairman also announced to launch a mass contact campaign under which he said he will stage rallies in various cities of the country including Karachi, Rawalpindi and others. He said his movement for “Haqeeqi Azadi” has entered into its decisive and final stage.

Commenting on the country’s economic crisis, he said that Sharifs and Zardaris are responsible for destroying the country’s economy, adding that they have been plundering for the last 30 years and made offshore assets.

“They [US] carried out drone strikes on Pakistan but Sharif and Zardari never raised their voice against this oppression,” he said, adding that he was not anti-American but will never compromise on national interest.

He said that he will mobilize people in every corner of the country including all big cities and termed it as the last moment to move towards freedom of the country in the true sense.

Imran welcomed the crowd and praised its passion and enthusiasm. The PTI chairman said he would give his guidelines for "real freedom" and the steps to be taken to achieve it. "I am not ready to compromise with the interests of my people," the former prime minister said, adding that he would never allow the country to become a slave to anyone.

Pervaiz Elahi

Addressing the charged crowd at National Hockey Stadium, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi warned Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of landing behind the bars and will be hanged.

The chief minister said that the provincial government will act within the law. Pervaiz Elahi while giving another bad news to the Sharifs said that former prime minster and PTI chaimran Imran Khan has strong relation with the army.

He said that he is bringing a law to end the scourge of usury which will punish the usurer with five years imprisonment, adding that PTI Chairman Imran Khan is his leader. Appreciating his efforts, the Punjab Chief Minister claimed that he (Imran) has now become the leader not only of Pakistan but also of the Islamic world.

Crediting the nation, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that he will carry forward the vision of the former prime minister. He further said that his focus was to provide free education to common people and to bring peace where people are suffering. CM Elahi said that Rescue 1122 during his previous tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab is the best example.

Pervaiz Elahi also said he was praised at the World Bank meeting, where the small provinces of China and India were asked to follow Pakistan s Punjab.

The PTI staged a massive show to celebrate Pakistan’s “haqeeqi (real) freedom”, while screens have also been installed in many cities across the country to live telecast the speech of Imran Khan.

PA passes resolution condemning baseless cases against Imran Khan


 

LAHORE (News) – The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning baseless cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo Imran Khan.

PTI senior leader Mian Mahmood-ul-Rashid presented a resolution in the House which was unanimously passed.

The resolution stated that “The House condemns the baseless cases against Imran Khan, Imran Khan is the true leader of the Pakistani nation and the world of Islam. Pakistan’s bright face was tarnished at the international level due to these cases.”

“The Secretary General of the United Nations also expressed concern over these cases, international journals are also condemning such incidents, such high tactics cannot stop the struggle of PTI, adding that Punjab Assembly expresses sympathy with Imran Khan and demands withdrawal of the cases filed by the imported government, a political response should be given in the political arena,” the resolution further stated.

Govt may increase petrol price by Rs20 per litre



 ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government is likely to drop the petrol bomb on the already suffering masses by increasing the prices of petroleum products by up to Rs20 per litre.


On August 15, the government increased the petrol price by Rs6.72 per litre, while slashed diesel price by Rs0.51.

The price of petrol was fixed at Rs233.91 per litre, diesel at Rs244.44 per litre, kerosene oil is being sold for Rs199.40 per litre, and the price of light diesel oil is Rs191.75 per litre.

The finance division in its statement said that in the wake of fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variations, the government had decided to revise the existing prices of petroleum products to pass on the impact to the consumers. 

IMF assured

On the other hand, Pakistan had assured the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to gradually increase the levy on petroleum products up to Rs50 per litre. A letter of intent had been agreed upon between Pakistan and the IMF.

Following the signatures of Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Murtaza Syed and Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail, Pakistan had sent Letter of Intent (LoI). Additionally, they confirmed that the fuel tax will be gradually increased to Rs 50 per litre. The government had promised in writing to the IMF that the fuel tax will increase by an additional Rs 10 per litre in September (next month).

According to sources familiar with the development, Pakistan has assured the international lender that government will gradually increase levy on petroleum products to Rs50.

Sources further said that the federal government will impose a levy of Rs10 on petrol and Rs5 on diesel from September 1.

‘Announce elections before my final call,’ Imran Khan warns govt


 

HARIPUR (News) – Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo Imran Khan on Wednesday warned the incumbent government saying that announce elections before his final call.

Addressing a public rally in Haripur, the former PM said that PTI never criticizes institutions, adding that PTI has only one goal to save the masses’ lives from the “Imported government” and to hold clean and transparent elections in the country. “Clean and transparent elections will bring stability to the country because the nation does not trust them, without early elections there will be no stability in the country,” Imran said.

“You all have to be ready when I give the call, I tell the imported government announce the elections before my final call. People will decide who will lead the country,” the PTI chairman warned.

Imran Khan said that Pakistanis are in a lot of trouble, adding that he has also directed the Punjab government to help flood-hit families. “Shehbaz Sharif instead of going to Qatar, help the people, no one gives you money because everyone knows you and your brother are thieves,” he took a dig at PM Shehbaz.

While reacting to PTI leader Shahbaz Gill’s arrest, the former PM said that Gill was tortured brutally and also sexually abused in police custody, adding that PTI will never leave all the involved people who tortured Shahbaz Gill.
